DMC Documentary Class

To help and encourage students to compete in the Rice Video Contest - , IT and the DMC are hosting a 6-session Documentary Production Class for up to ten Rice students on 6 Tuesday evenings in February (10, 17, 24) and March (10, 17, 24) of 2009.  It will involve shooting, taking sound, editing in Final Cut Pro, DVD production and web posting.

RICE POSTING OF THIS COURSE

Doug Killgore (instructor) has been making films and videos since high school.  As a Rice student in the 1960s, he made weekly "News on Campus" documentaries for a local television news program and co-produced "Grigsby, G." his first feature film.  For over twenty years, he ran Killgore Productions, Inc., producing video and multi-media for a wide variety of corporate clients including Saudi Aramco, Coca-cola, GTE, Shell and Rice.  During this time he wrote and directed "The Trust" a 35mm feature about the murder of William Marsh Rice.  In 2004 he joined the Rice IT Department staff where he continues to produce video documentaries for his favorite client and teaches documentary production through the Glasscock School.
